Being welcomed into creative spaces to document work is a real privilege; and not something that I will ever take for granted.
I work closely with artists and performers across the country on projects including theatre, dance and performance art.
My ethos when it comes to documenting is to learn as much as possible in advance to gain a full understanding of the work being developed and presented. This allows me to work in the background; enabling me to have minimal impact on the performance team. I always aim to approach performances empathetically, as I believe that my role as a documenter should have as little impact as possible on the production process. Some projects have actively sought my input as a collaborator and an outside eye, which is something I am very comfortable with.
This work is hugely rewarding, and has given me tremendous insight into the truly fascinating artistic work being undertaken across all the performance mediums with which I’ve been involved.
